Ghostly International is a record label that embodies music of electronic methods and humanistic aims.
Our releases fall into three sub divisions:
Moodgadget was founded in 2004 with the goal of exposing the diversity in electronically made music. Moodgadget works in partnership with Ghostly International to help expose the work of new artists.
Avant-Pop, a space for cutting edge music with an electronic methodology and a pop sensibility. It follows no formula, but you know it when you hear it. Acts like Dabrye, Matthew Dear, Solvent and Skeletons & The Kings of All Cities exemplify this convergence of the avant-garde and the popular.
SMM is a mysterious acronym that encompasses enigmatic ambient and experimental music with an emphasis on textural and melodic expanses. Twine, Aeroc, Lusine, Kiln, and Cepia are some of the artists exploring the limitlessness of the SMM sound.
Spectral Sound was created in 2000 as a dancefloor-oriented counterpart to Ghostly International's avant-pop releases. While beginning as an outlet for DJ singles from then-unknowns like Matthew Dear and James T. Cotton, Spectral's core roster expanded to include artists like Broker/Dealer, Osborne, Jeff Samuel and Matthew Dear's Audion alias, reflecting the re-emerging vitality of the American techno scene.
With diverse, genre-bending releases and a focus on moody and heavy techno and house, Spectral Sound has cultivated a diverse roster of artists, ranging from the dark atmospherics of Par Grindvik and Lawrence, to the more house-influenced stylings of Kate Simko, Daso and Sami Koivikko. Spectral's DJ roster consists of Ryan Elliott and Derek Plaslaiko who continue to push the sound globally.
