[News] Matthew Dear's "Bad Ones" Featuring Tegan and Sara

[News] Matthew Dear

Matthew Dear’s second single of the summer is a collaboration with friends Tegan and Sara. “Bad Ones” conveys the paralysis of insecurity and, as Sara puts it, “the relief in finding someone who loves the more complicated parts of you.” Dear on working together: “The process was open and free. Often times, we need to get out of our own way to let the magic happen, and this song is a bold reminder of that.”

Pitchfork adds: “Truly the intersection of both artists’ sounds… it’s a moment where the trio fulfill all their pop star aspirations.”

shigeto announces the new monday lp

The producer’s first full-length album in four years arrives October 6th.

Named after a weekly DJ event that Zach Saginaw (aka Shigeto) and friends do at Motor City Wine, The New Monday is the result of him diving into Detroit’s deep record culture and embracing his own contributions to the lineage.

today we stand with bandcamp in support of trans rights

Bandcamp recently announced that they’ll be donating 100% of their share of every sale on Friday, August 4th to the Transgender Law Center, “a nonprofit organization that works tirelessly to change law, policy, and culture for the more equitable.”

The cause resonates across our community, and Ghostly International will do its part to support it. Our share of revenue for the day is being donated as well.

“Bandcamp is a platform for artistic expression, and all manner of variance in experience and identity, including gender and sexuality, is welcome here. We support our LGBT+ users and staff, and we stand against any person or group that would see them further marginalized. This includes the current U.S. administration, and its recent capricious declaration that transgender troops will no longer be able to serve in the military. That this announcement was motivated in part to help fund the border wall exposes it as part of the administration’s cynical, discriminatory agenda.”
