M ss ng p eces in collaboration with Matthew Dear present the Beams story of sorts. You will find a dancer, a poet, a trumpet player and mainstay Ghostly visual artist and designer Michael Cina painting Dear’s portrait for the cover of Beams. This is the third time Matthew Dear and m ss ng p eces have joined forces.
Meanwhile, we shared a Poolside remix recently here. Poolside slows "Her Fantasy" down to a cool breeze.
Beams is available August 27th.
Gold Panda’s production has a lasting effect on people. The UK producer’s Lucky Shiner continues to be a favorite and the recently offered double A-side Mountain/Financial District single was another dip in the toes of pristine, emotional production possibly hinting at what’s to come.
He’s visited these parts many times before. The difference this time will be an altered set so you’re bound to hear something new or different than the last go round.
Tycho doesn’t want to slow down, does he? Scott Hansen (known as ISO50 in the design world), as you may recall, is already on tour with his 3-piece band finishing the trail end of his second headlining tour in support of the still-to-be-discovered second album, Dive. And just like that, they continue their trek in America this fall. This time, Tycho brings along one of his favorite acts of all time, The Album Leaf.
This week, Com Truise delivers a compilation of unreleased, early recordings called In Decay. It encompasses 13 tracks that have previously been either only available as demos online or are entirely unheard tracks dating from before Haley’s official releases — his debut Cyanide Sisters EP, its follow-up full-length Galactic Melt, and last year’s Fairlight EP.
Com continues to tour as well.
We are beyond excited to announce the release of Sougwen Chung’s second print series for Ghostly International Editions.
Both an evolution and a departure from Chung’s previous collection of improvisational abstract drawings, the Étude Op. 2 Series continues the artist’s meditation on form and memory through four meticulously rendered, tacitly allegorical compositions.
Shigeto’s year gets better and better. He’s toured like mad and will continue to do so for the majority of 2012. This week sees the release of the Huron River Drive single. The release includes remixes from Braille, Sun Glitters, Sun Hammer and Evenings. You can hear the Sun Glitters remix here.
“Her Fantasy,” the highly praised lead single––and dare we say summer anthem––gets a very fitting video treatment. Director Tommy O’Haver’s video takes us on a journey through bizarre sequences of debauchery and seduction with a hint of humor, as he pays homage to Avant Garde filmmaker Kenneth Anger in a self-described “mash-up”. Tommy brings out the dark side of the psychedelic pop synth track by using pulsing lights, dim colors and exotic subjects. Featuring a pink-haired geisha, a slow-moving harlequin clown, and a smiling lady with a cage over her head, “Her Fantasy” is a very weird trip. Also, check out the Australian producer Tornado Wallace’s remix of said single. Beams is available August 27th & 28th. Pre-order now.
